Eric Rupenthal is a construction and real estate attorney with a strong focus on commercial transactions, lease disputes, and litigation. He has assisted with high-value real estate matters, including complex leasing, mergers and acquisitions, and property development. Eric also brings a unique perspective to construction and real estate litigation, having worked as a litigation paralegal prior to attending law school.
Eric’s approach is rooted in understanding his clients’ priorities so he can tailor his counsel to each client’s broader business goals. Clients rely on his diligence and attention to risk throughout the lifecycle of real estate deals and litigation.
Before joining Easter & Cavosie in 2025, Eric was an associate at Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, the largest health care-focused law firm in the United States. Eric is licensed to practice in Indiana.
Experience
- Conducted due diligence for a $900 million healthcare merger involving over 300 properties and various private equity investments.
- Provided counsel on ground leases, subleases, Phase 1 environmental reports, title commitments, surveys, appraisals, rent rolls, building inspection reports, estoppel certificates, board resolutions, SNDA’s, escrow agreements, and purchase and sale agreements.
- Extensive experience in negotiating, terminating, renewing, assigning, and amending leases, representing both landlords and tenants. Representative lease transaction disputes include negotiating $10 million in uncaptured holdover rent, $1 million in mold remediation, and multiple evictions.
- Represented clients in front of the Indiana Board of Tax Review.
- Litigation paralegal for two years prior to attending law school.
