Betsy focuses her practice on employment, construction, and commercial real estate matters.  She enjoys serving a vast array of clients—both inside and outside of the commercial real estate and construction industries.

 

Betsy is experienced in conducting thorough and efficient investigations into workplace complaints of harassment and discrimination.  Additionally, on behalf of educational institutions, Betsy investigates complaints invoking Title IX compliance.  She counsels employers regarding employment decisions, including hiring, disciplining, and dismissing employees, as well as the implementation and modification of employment policies.

 

Prior to joining Easter & Cavosie, Betsy defended State agencies in EEOC and Workers Compensation proceedings while employed with the State of Indiana Personnel Department.

Employment

Betsy’s employment practice centers on providing strategic guidance in hiring, dismissing, discipline, leaves of absence, and investigating employee complaints.  Betsy counsels employers regarding compliance with the multitude of employment laws, including the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Drug Free Workplace Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, FMLA, OSHA, Prevailing Wage, Title VII, and WARN.

 

Betsy additionally has experience defending employers in EEOC and ICRC proceedings.

 

Construction

Betsy’s construction practice is comprised of advising construction clients—including owners, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers in pursuing and defending mechanic’s lien and bond claims, drafting and negotiating construction contracts, and arbitrating and mediating construction-related disputes.  Betsy also represents construction clients in collections proceedings—whether as against individuals or companies.

 

Commercial Real Estate

Betsy’s commercial real estate practice includes assisting clients in transactions involving the acquisition, disposition, development, and leasing of office, medical office, retail, and industrial properties.
