George H. Abel, II is a partner with the firm. George is licensed in Indiana and Ohio and has over 25 years of experience in handling a wide variety of complex real estate matters. Prior to joining Easter & Cavosie, George was Vice President, Legal, at Duke Realty Corporation where he was responsible for national build-to-suit projects, retail development and leasing, and industrial leasing. George also oversaw all aspects of the development, disposition, and leasing at Anson, a 1700-acre mixed-use development in the Indianapolis area containing retail, single-family residential, multi-family residential, office, and industrial components.
George graduated cum laude from Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington in 1984 and graduated summa cum laude from Ball State University. He was a member of the wrestling team at Ball State University, as well as a research assistant to Dr. Anthony Edmonds and an instructor at Burris Laboratory School after graduation.
George began his career at Bose McKinney & Evans in Indianapolis, and his real estate background also includes serving as senior associate at Trott & Hedrick Co. L.P.A. in Dayton, Ohio and as senior real estate counsel for Metromedia Group in Dallas. He was later a shareholder in the Indianapolis firm of Leeuw & Doyle, P.C., where he handled financing, leasing, franchising, transactional, general corporate matters and real estate development matters. George also practiced at Ice Miller in the areas of real estate development, financing and leasing.
George is a member of the Urban Land Institute and has served on the American Bar Association Real Estate Section’s Standard Commercial Loan Documents, Commercial Real Estate Newsletter, and Construction Law subcommittees. He has also been a presenter at a number of continuing legal education seminars on real estate matters.
George has served on the board of directors of Waycross Camp and Conference Center, where he has served as vice president, and has served on the vestry of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Indianapolis. He is also a member of the board of directors and past secretary of Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic.
George and his wife, Kim, have two grown children and reside in Zionsville.
